Imo people don't q.q ni more if your acc got hacked well that's not anet's fault neither is it urs . If you don't find the game to be "fun" ni more due to excessive "nerfs" or w/e just quit plain and simple move on, there's plenty more games out there but don't waste ur time and ours just qqing and trolling here.

It seems obvious that this new security feature is not making the game more fun for at least some peeps, and that's not a troll it is more of a fact.
I have nine accounts, two new ones three days old because I picked up a couple of NIB GW Platinum Editions for $US6.99 shipped off of eBay. It will probably take me a week or more to straighten this mess out with Anet. I have a stack of boxes with everything in them, but don't really remember which key goes with which account.
It looks to me like Anet shot it's self in the foot with this one. What they did was PO lots of hard core players who have multiple accounts, many of them mules that they only log on to clear out storage. The guys who have a single account with a single email will not have any problem with the new security. But the guys who spent money buying multiple keys for multiple accounts will now think twice about buying any more copies of GW.
If I wanted to be an accountant and keep records of which account goes with which key and which toons were named what on which account I would go to work for a big company, but if I wanted to play games on a computer I might consider switching from GW to something else.
Here is a question for Gail, how many copies of GW are repeat sales to peeps who already have one or more GW accounts, and how many copies of GW are sold to first time buyers? And more to the point do you think it is realistic to expect some one like me who has bought multiple copies of GW to buy any more after something like this happens.
Just as an aside a bud of mine who was a long time GW player quit several months ago (after the SF nerff) and switch to Runes of Magic; check out their log on screen. The Runes of Magic log on screen is much more secure than what GW uses but does not cause grief for the players.
If GW really wanted better security they could mimic Runes of Magic log on instead of the bozo trick they pulled. Not to mention it really disrupted play for some peeps.
A big thumbs down from me on this new security idea.

Anet asked all the GW fansites, I saw it first on a French one.
It's a very nice addon in the first line of defense. I'm expecting stronger stuff to appear both in the backline (he he GvG terminology ) and in related sites, like Guru did a while ago by removing IGNs (or else it'd be easier for RMTers to farm char names!).

Curious, although I suppose anything which increases security is a good thing. I'll be removing my character name from my gwguru profile.

It's actually a pretty good choice, this way if someone gets his hands on a email adress he will somehow have to find out the character name that goes with it. Not really something a computer program is good at. Brute-forcing will be impossible or at least take alot more effort (hackers are lazy).

No!, you gtfo. I cannot access my storage account.
This change has inconvenienced legitimate players and demonstrated how thoughtless A-Net is.

usefull intervention, as usual...
This is a good thing to implement security options to protect our accounts, but it isn't a good idea to do this without any warning...
lost some of my accounts used juste for storage just cause i can't remember char names...
got to remember mails<->passwords, and now corresponding char names...
I think this should be optionnal...

They need to UNimplement this and allow a window for people to gather char names and/or make it optional. I personally don't have any extra accounts but I can see how troublesome this would be for people with 4 and 5 alts with random names.
Also, I hope they realize this discourages old time players who quit from EVER logging back on. People who quit a year ago won't be able to remember a char name. And yes, I do have friends who moved on but will occassionally hop on.

I don't remember ANY of the names of my storage account. Simply never meant to be heroic persons with names to remember. I don't think this update will make any difference anyway. I mean: How do you think abusers get information about accounts? They have seen you first while playing. They now simply write down the name and do the trick as they always did!

It is optional isn't it? As long as you can remember a character name once - you can tick the "remember..." box.
Doesn't help if you can't get in that first time - but if you're in a guild, and your mule accounts are in the same guild as your main, you can see their names in the guild roster. Or in the Friends list on you main, if you added them.

To anyone who is struggling to remember the IGN of secondary accounts - it might be worth going through your Screenshots folder in Guild Wars to see if you took a screenshot of it at any time.
On the whole though, this is a very clever solution!
